Learning that goes beyond the classroom
At SACGS Juniors, learning is brought to life through real experiences, meaningful opportunities and a curriculum that reaches far beyond the classroom walls.
Through Woodland & Beach School, educational visits, enrichment activities and hands-on experiences, children develop confidence, curiosity, independence and a deeper understanding of the world around them.
Inspired by Scandinavian approaches to education, we believe children learn best when learning feels connected, purposeful and memorable.
π Real experiences. Real learning.
Educational visits and enrichment opportunities are carefully planned to enhance the curriculum and broaden horizons.
Children regularly take part in:
- Woodland School and Beach School sessions
- Outdoor learning in Ashton Gardens and the local environment
- Visits to museums, galleries and places of historical interest
- Theatre visits, performances and cultural experiences
- Science, environmental and STEM activities
- Local community visits and seasonal events
- Planned expansion of outdoor opportunities to Anchorsholme Park
- Activity Week experiences and end-of-year enrichment activities
These experiences help children to:
- Build confidence and resilience
- Develop teamwork and independence
- Apply learning in real-world contexts
- Strengthen communication and social skills
- Create lasting memories and meaningful connections
πΏ Learning through exploration
We believe learning should be active, engaging and rooted in discovery.
Children are encouraged to:
- Ask questions and investigate ideas
- Explore the natural world
- Solve problems collaboratively
- Develop independence and curiosity
- Learn through movement, creativity and experience
Whether exploring the beach, taking part in outdoor investigations, visiting the library, performing in productions or participating in enrichment clubs, children experience learning in ways that inspire genuine enthusiasm.
π¨ Enrichment beyond the curriculum
Our wider enrichment programme gives children opportunities to discover interests, develop talents and build confidence.
Activities may include:
- Board Games Club
- Lego Club
- Car Club
- Yoga Club
- Arts & Crafts
- Music and performance opportunities
- Sporting activities and outdoor challenges
These opportunities support wellbeing, creativity and positive friendships in a calm and nurturing environment.
π€ A community of care and opportunity
At SACGS, educational visits and activities are not βextrasβ β they are part of who we are.
We aim to create a Junior School experience where children feel:
- Safe and supported
- Inspired and challenged
- Valued as individuals
- Excited to learn and explore
By combining academic learning with outdoor experiences, creativity and enrichment, we help children grow into confident, capable and compassionate young people.
