Attendance

Attendance remains a key priority at St Annes College Grammar School

We work closely with pupils, families and external professionals to support strong attendance and punctuality across all phases of the school.

Attendance is monitored daily and reviewed regularly by senior leaders and pastoral teams. Where barriers to attendance are identified, early support and personalised strategies are put in place to help pupils engage successfully with school.

Overview (Academic Year 2024–2025)

  • Nursery and Early Years pupils demonstrate very strong attendance, reflecting positive engagement and close partnership with families.
  • Primary attendance remains high, with effective routines, clear expectations and strong pastoral support.
  • Secondary attendance reflects the complex needs of our cohort, including pupils with SEND, anxiety-related needs and bespoke timetables. Targeted interventions and flexible provision are used to support sustained engagement and reintegration where appropriate.

Punctuality is also monitored closely, and late arrivals are followed up to ensure pupils are supported to attend consistently and on time.

Supporting Attendance

The school promotes good attendance through:

  • strong relationships with pupils and families
  • a trauma-informed, inclusive approach
  • personalised timetables and phased returns where appropriate
  • close liaison with external agencies when needed
  • clear expectations balanced with compassion and understanding

Attendance data is reviewed alongside safeguarding, wellbeing and academic progress to ensure decisions are always made in the best interests of the child
